In 2014, lawmakers on Capitol Hill will be deliberating a number of important issues that directly affect the commercial real estate industry. These include the 15-year leasehold depreciation provision, which Congress allowed to expire last year; the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), which is set to expire at the end of 2014; and tax reform. Now more than ever, BOMA’s advocacy efforts are needed to ensure Congress does not unduly burden commercial real estate. Our latest vlog features two members of BOMA International’s advocacy team, Karen Penafiel, Vice President of Advocacy, Codes and Standards, and Jason Todd, Director of Federal Affairs, who discuss why BOMA members are the best weapons in our advocacy arsenal.
